Private import

The EU Commission has issued regulations for the import by private persons of certain foods of animal origin. The rules are presented on the Swedish Board of Agriculture’s website.

With a few exceptions third country meat and meat products as well as milk and milk products may only enter Sweden via a border control post. The procedure and cost of veterinary controls are the same as for commercial import of foods.

Commercial samples

Import of small amounts of foods of animal origin from third countries as samples for examination or testing, or for product presentation, is also regulated by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
